Pregnancy Workout DVD
Last week, Luke Moulton joined Flippa as its new marketing manager. In an effort to better understand the marketplace and its users, Luke decided to purchase his first website, www.pregnancyworkoutdvd.com. In a post on the Flippa blog, Luke reveals the website he purchased and his pre-purchase keyword research, competition analysis and website valuation.
In the end, Luke decided to pay the “buy it now” price of $397 since he felt it would take at least 10 hours to build the same site and get it ranking. The site is already ranking 6th in google for the primary keyword (pregnancy workout dvd), which is good. I will be very curious to see how long it takes Luke to make his money back on his investment.
What do you think? Will Luke be able to make back his investment in less than a year?

Wow, no pressure or anything! You might want to nofollow that link so it doesn’t look like you’re giving me a helping hand!

Haha! Well, I doubt I’m giving you much in the way of “link juice” with my non-existent page rank!

Hey, Eric:
Yeah, I noticed that and it was a solid case study. Luke pretty much summed up how I factor in my site creations.
1. niche
2. keyword research
3. design
4. content
5. SEO
I bookmarked it to show to potential clients. And as for income? I don’t see why he would not RECOUP his investment if he manages the site well.
Cheers,
Missy

Hey Missy, thanks for your comment. I agree that with some hard work, it should work out for him. However, I notice that his google ranking slipped off the first page for his keyword (at least on my google search).

It’s a nice niche. I think he will do fine as long as he continues to build back links to the site and monitor the traffic and conversions making improvements as necessary along the way.
